Oktoberfest is coming up. This is one of the biggest events in Belegarth, and will draw hundreds of fighters to medieval-themed Stonehouse Park in Earlville, IL.
Post here if you want to go, and I we'll help find rides for anyone/everyone who's going. If this is your first event, you'll need to make sure you have garb, fighting gear, and camping gear for the weekend.
Cost is $30 for the weekend ($25 if you preregister www.edhellen.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=EA&Category_Code=new-items). We're going to try to secure a group campsite for our realm; more info to follow on that. If we get enough people signed up to go, we can split the cost of a heat/AC cabin (sleeps 10-15), which is $60. Otherwise, we're all in tents roughing it.
If you need camping gear, we recommend renting from IU Outdoor Adventures' Gear Shop. They have a good selection of quality gear for a great price. The penalties are pretty high for late gear returns, or dirty/damaged gear, so take good care of their gear and get it back on time (give yourself an extra day or two to get it all clean and dry). www.imu.indiana.edu/iuoa/rentals_retail.shtml
There will be two feasts at Okfest, otherwise everyone is feeding themselves. If there are enough people, we can bring some cooking equipment for the group. I recommend a diet of raw whole foods that you can keep in a cooler for the weekend -- lots of apples, seeds, granola, bread, cold cuts, etc. Maybe bring a cast iron pan and a steak for one special night.
If you're under 18, you'll need a signed and notarized waiver. More information can be had at the official event listing at the bottom of this post (update info is about halfway down the thread).
Ride Sharing
Jeff's Car - Jeff, Cyrus (FULL: leaving Friday morning)
Mike's car - Mike, Alex, (Ryan?) (FULL; leaving Wednesday)
Caitlyn's Car - Caitlyn, (Geoff?), (Donnie?) (FULL: leaving Friday)
